Macks Creek Science teachers Mr. Allen and Mrs. Hellums took eight high school and five junior high school students to Hermitage on Tuesday, November 2, to compete in the Polk County League Science Olympiad.
The high school team consisting of Trinity Husong, Chase Christian, Paxten Breshears, Addie Ratliff, Daysha Brooks, Vaughn Vasquez, Sigfredo Segarra, and Jade Stasiak placed 2nd overall among the nine schools. Individual and team results for high school:
First Place in the Toothpick Bridge Construction event. Trinity placed second in the Anatomy Quiz. Addie, Paxten, Vaughn and Chase placed first in the Pentathlon. Daysha, Vaughn, Chase, and Trinity placed second in the Straw Rocket event. Paxten and Vaughn placed second in "Write-It-Do-It". Addie, Vaughn, and Chase placed third in "Picture This".
Our junior high team consisting of Maddie Moos, Zoe Ouellette, Zane Brooks, Calvin Eidson, and Israel Husong placed first overall among the nine schools. Individual and team results for the junior high:
Third Place in the Toothpick Bridge Construction event. Zoe placed first in the Astronomy Test. Maddie placed first in the Weather Test. Israel, Calvin, and Zane placed first in the Straw Rocket event. Calvin and Israel placed first in "Write-It-Do-It". Israel, Calvin, and Zane placed second in the Egg Drop. Calvin, Maddie, and Israel placed third in "Picture This". Zane and Zoe placed third in the Aluminum Boat event.
