On Friday, November 9, the Macks Creek R-V School District was honored to host 39 area Veterans for breakfast and a program in the high school gym. Veterans were able to eat breakfast and visit in the Charlie and Jackie Adell Library Media Center. After breakfast, all of the Veterans were honored in the high school gymnasium with a pin and certificate.
LTC (Retired) James W. Cumper was the featured speaker. He spoke to the crowd about his time in the United States Army from 1968-1994. During that time, LTC (Retired) Cumper was honored with a Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Award, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Currently, he has Thor (Therapy Dog) that helps men and women who suffer from war experiences.
During the program, guests and students, enjoyed listening to the Macks Creek High School Choir perform patriotic songs. The program concluded with a wonderfully played rendition of “Taps” performed by Veteran Mike McClain, to remember the service men and women who have passed away both in combat and at home.
