Macks Creek School is excited to announce a brand new opportunity for our students! After careful consideration, our school board recently approved a Football Cooperative with our friends and neighbors at Hickory County R-1 Schools. As a result, Macks Creek High School students will be able to play football beginning in the fall of next school year. Our district is grateful for this partnership and looking forward to cheering for our football Pirates as they join the Tigers on the gridiron!
The terms of the cooperative agreement provide specific details relative to the expectations of each school district. For example, Macks Creek School will provide transportation to Skyline School for practices as well as home and away games. In turn, Skyline will transport our students from Skyline School to other locations and back for games. Macks Creek will also provide a staff member who will be present for supervision and emergency purposes. Skyline will also provide all the equipment and uniforms necessary for our students to participate. The initial length of this agreement is for a term of 3-years with an annual review.
Macks Creek School continues to seek new and varied opportunities for our student body. By becoming members of the Polk County League a few years ago, the district is now able to provide students with various new academic competitions relative to science, history, English, mathematics, art, and band. Through this cooperative agreement with Skyline, the district is proud to be able to add the sport of football to its list of athletic offerings. The district looks forward to sharing more details about this opportunity in the months ahead.
