On Monday, November 11th, the Macks Creek R-V School District was honored to host 36 area veterans for breakfast and a ceremony in the high school gym. Veterans were served breakfast in the Charlie and Jackie Adell Library Media Center. After breakfast, all of the veterans were recognized for their service in the high school gymnasium with a pin and certificate.
LTC Meghann E. Sullivan provided the ceremonial address to the Macks Creek students, faculty, staff, and community. She spoke to the crowd about the important roles women have served throughout the years on both the front lines and support personnel. LTC Sullivan currently serves as the Commander of the 31st Engineer Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood. Along with LTC Sullivan, the 31st Engineer Battalion Color Guard from Fort Leonard Wood was in attendance and presented the colors for the ceremony.
During the program guests and students, enjoyed listening to the Macks Creek High School Choir and students perform patriotic songs. The program concluded with a moment of silence followed by playing of “Taps”, to remember the service men and women who have passed away both in combat and at home.
Thank you to all of the men and women for your service to this great country!
