On Monday night at the 23rd Annual KJEL All-Star Banquet over 30 local athletes from all classes in mid-Missouri were honored for their achievements during the 2022-2023 basketball season. Among those were five Macks Creek Pirate and Lady Pirate standouts: Brooklyn Duggan, Addison Ratliff, India Willis, Logan Gallamore, and Chase Whitworth. Brooklyn Duggan, India Willis, and Logan Gallamore are two-time recipients while Addison Ratliff and Chase Whitworth received their first All-Star award.
Coach Duggan shared about the trio of Lady Pirates:
India Willis, who was last year's Player of the Year, had another outstanding season on the court. She broke her own school record by scoring 641 points, pulled down 275 rebounds, had 133 steals, and 116 assists. She was the Class 1 District 5 Player of the Year, All-District, First Team All-Conference and is sure to receive her second All-State patch.
Brooklyn Duggan despite missing 3 games this year scored 342 points for an average of 12.7 points per game, had 143 assists (3rd all-time which ranks her 3rd all time at Macks Creek. She also had 99 steals and 21 blocked shots. Brooklyn was All-District and First Team All-Conference for the second year in a row.
Addison Ratliff set two school records with 70 made 3-pointers and free throw percentage of 80.6%. She scored 422 points, an average of 14.1 per game, had 135 assists, and pulled down 109 rebounds. Addison was All-District and Second Team All-Conference.
The Macks Creek Lady Pirates were 24-6 on the season and made it to the State Quarterfinals. They were Sectional and District Champions as well Osceola and Hermitage Tournament Champions. Congratulations to these three outstanding young ladies and to all their accomplishments! We look forward to two more exciting years of basketball with these three as they are all just sophomores.
Coach Treat shared about the Pirates' duo:
Chase Whitworth was one of our Senior guards on our team. He averaged 11.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.8 steals pg, and made 43 three's this season on 30% shooting. He also shot 75% from the free throw line this year. He was our best defender. He was on the top of our zone, guarding full-court every game this season. When we were in man, he would be guarding the other team's best player. He didn’t have any eye popping stats, but his impact on the floor was huge for us this year. He stepped up for us in a couple big games this year, and he was a big reason why we had such a good year.
Logan Gallamore was another one of our Senior guards on the team. He averaged 20.4 points, 7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 2.7 steals. He shot 54% from the field while also shooting 80% from the free throw line, where he made 133 free throws. He also got his thousandth point this year too. He had nine double-doubles and one triple-double. He was a very consistent scorer this year by scoring double digits in every game. He was on top on everybody's scouting report. Everytime he got the ball there was always an extra defender in the paint. He drew so much attention which helped him create a lot of open shots for others. In my opinion he wasn’t just one of best players in the area in 1A, but also one of the best in the state.
To end things, I just wanted to say that these two were the best leaders a coach can ask for. They came to everything in the summer, every open gym, never missed a practice, and no one played harder than them. They did everything that they could this year to make our team successful. They are not just great players, but great people too.
